And now, following in the steps of Coates, I have quit Twitter. Again, I understand how this specific platform has helped many people in the margins (BLM etc) to get their voice out, but here I’m making a more personal call: it has not helped me gather information or insight into the world. And it has eaten away at my writing and also has refuted my attempts to best capture the zeitgeist (which I thought it would be good for).

I must also admit that by quitting I’m stifling my ego which wants to think that my Twitter account is out there making a difference for the world. It is not.
