Good points here that you’ve raised. Indeed as some people ITT can show you, they lack critical reading skills and assume that meritocracy would reign supreme as right now the only barrier to that is admissions that “favor” minorities. Right. We all know the truth. And if examples like the bribery scandal, the fake tests, the open bribery (like Kushner getting into Harvard) or other examples don’t prove to these people that the opposite of a meritocracy is the status quo, well… I don’t know, critical reading skills are hard to teach, right? No matter what you get in a test.

On that note, even for people who don’t outright cheat, there are many who can pay for tutors who teach to the test. This doesn’t bestow any amazing level of thought on the person who aces the test (not in this way, at least) but, as Chris Hedges pointed out, it was a farce to see that they taught his son to not think so creatively so he could ace this multiple choice test.
