Nice points. I would say that sometimes a piece doesn’t have to include everything. We are in a moment where the rough waves make it feel hard just to keep your head above water, but that’s no reason not to keep creating, writing, IMO. One can focus on a singular issue here and there, focus on the details of your reaction to that historic moment and do that a lot. Then maybe you can sit down and work on the ultimate rebuke or encapsulation of the moment.

I will say that I’ve heard some people mention the loss of Hunter S or Hitchens as some strong vacuum we can’t get over. I suppose I think there are plenty of people with good views out there and think pieces. Coates is one. There are others.
