Nice take on this form of storytelling. I first learned on the relevancy of pro-wrestling when I read Chris Hedges’ Empire of Illusion. It’s a book worth reading if only for that first part where he looks at how many people like this tale of pro-wrestling and what goes on “behind the scenes” and how that reflects our society.
According to Hedges, in the beginning there was a simpler tale of good and evil, but as America itself fell apart and grew more complex, the idea of good or bad fell victim to people who were willing to live amorally so long as they gained power and money.
Sound familiar?
Of course someone like Trump would find something like a home here.
Nevertheless, this speaks of the drama from an American perspective. What do you think a more worldly view/audience will require of the stories it tells?
