Morrison should always be added to any best of list, given that she’s the only living Queen of American fiction. I will have to read Lispector.

I too have been trying to correct my miseducation whereby I only heard certain kinds of voices (as going to school here in the US will force you to do). Imagine that only five years ago I read my first James Baldwin essay! So my list for this year is a little better than before, but still trying to expand. I would say read from as many cultures as possible.
