Yeah, Medium is a good place to be. I have issues with their editorial choices over the past year, but you can still look for the good stuff and interact in a more fulfilling and thoughtful way.
Deleting Twitter and Instagram (more time consuming for me than FB) has turned out to do wonders for me. I’m still in the throes of figuring out the best way to read the world, read the news, and I thought Twitter would provide that, but it hasn’t. Now I know that you have to work to get the good stuff (for geopolitics look at a variety of news from different nations, as well as human rights groups on the ground) and the intentions of many social media sites don’t have that in mind.
But you could be right about whatever I’ve chosen to follow on these sites being my own personal hell. I’ve written about that before:
