As La Poeta Mariposa said, “500 years of eviction notices.” Indeed, I remember seeing a great gallery on this in San Fran. It pointed out the evictions and police confrontation used to change a neighborhood. The story told, and one I used to believe (especially in NYC), is that there is a cycle, don’t you know? This neighborhood was once Irish, then Dominicans came in then us. It’s a cycle. It’s good. It’s how the world has always been. [1] This is how the neighborhood improves.
