This article got me thinking, especially the last part about a “fake” profile of sorts. The likes of Cindy Sherman, known for taking on the masks of many others, would be proud. And if the story of that infamous photo of a man being shot during the Spanish Civil War is true, then fake photos have always been with us.

So too has the desire to dig deeper than what a normal camera will give us. — whether you use an iPhone or film camera, or display it on IG or some art gallery and whether you take a photo of reality itself, or something fake — is all a matter of tools.

In the age where you are able to take a good photo with just the press of a button, I too have been wondering how to step out of this void. I’ve been trying to step out of the limitations of a single snap shot. Kill the paralyzed cyclops, as Hockney said:

But, as I’ve said before, I sense that a bedridden cyclops is little better than a paralyzed one. There’s hope, though and as with painting, I’m guessing that photography might undergo something new. It’s already stretching what we see in terms of time and reality and space. Let’s see where it goes from here.
