Well said. Art is many things and guided tours can help the viewer discern what is what (actually my one quibble with many art museums is that there isn’t enough information, having taken a class on some earlier art helped my perspective so much). I recently took a guided tour for street art and was presented with so many facets of what was what, that I would recommend them to anyone.
I would especially recommend going to this one in LA, because the street artists themselves will give you a tour and let you know about the history as they lived it.
That being said, if people want to read about art (or about a hippo) before they head out, that’s another way to absorb information and, indeed, art can provide something for those people and people would prefer not to read anything at all.
